How to Resolve QRD Spark N5 Joystick Drift

How to Resolve QRD Spark N5 Joystick Drift

Some players may encounter joystick drift while using the QRD Spark N5 controller. This issue is often related to the joystick cap misalignment or the automatic calibration of the Hall Effect joysticks. Below are two simple steps to help you resolve this issue and restore normal usage:

Step 1: Manually Adjust the Joystick Position

Due to long periods of shipping, the joystick cap may become loose from the Hall sensor inside the controller, causing the joystick to drift. We recommend manually adjusting the joystick cap to ensure it is correctly aligned at the center.

How to Perform:

  1. Disconnect the Controller: First, disconnect the controller from the console or any device.

  2. Remove the Joystick Cap: Gently pull off the joystick cap from the joystick.

  3. Adjust the Joystick Cap: After removing the cap, slowly rotate the base of the joystick cap either clockwise or counterclockwise for 3-4 turns. Make sure there are no unusual looseness or resistance during this process.

  4. Re-align to the Center: Once the rotation is smooth, ensure the joystick cap is aligned to the center, then gently press it down to secure it in place.

🕹️Step 2: Switch from Auto Calibration to Manual Calibration

Why Manual Calibration?

The QRD Spark N5 is equipped with Hall Effect joysticks that originally relied on automatic calibration. However, some users reported joystick drift when the sticks were not completely idle during startup.

To address this, we introduced a manual calibration mode in firmware V3.05, allowing players to disable auto calibration and manually calibrate their joysticks. This ensures more precise control and eliminates drift issues.

👉 Important: You must update your controller to firmware V3.05 before manual calibration is available.

Manual calibration:

  • - while the controller is turned off, hold down the [TURBO+OPTION+HOME] for 3 seconds to enter calibration settings menu. ( [HOME LED] starts flashing yellow color indicating)
  • Press [X] to turn OFF Automatic Calibration and continue to manual calibration.
  • - Rotate RS and LS slowly and fully touching ring corners 4 times.
  • - Fully press and release R2 and L2 3 times.
  • - Once enough data is gathered for hall sensors calibration the controller vibrates once. User can proceed to the next step.
  • - Put the controller on a flat and stable surface then press [OPTION] to start Gyro calibration.
  • - Once Gyro calibration is finished the controller exits settings and returns to standby.
